Senior Development Engineer
Dr Olek Kowalski was awarded a Ph.D. from the University of Sheffield, in 1996, involving a spectroscopic study of the band structure of AlGaInP. He was then employed as a Research Fellow at the University of Glasgow, investigating novel, quantum well, intermixing technologies as a tool for photonic integration in the development of future all-optical networks.
In 2000, he was a founding employee of Intense Photonics, where he was responsible for the development and deployment of its core QWI technology in a range of optoelectronic products. He subsequently worked as product manager within Intense, developing state-of-the-art, ultra-fine, pitch laser arrays for digital printing applications and the development of high power lasers for a range of applications. He was also latterly responsible for managing the company’s UK to US chip supply chain and maintaining its extensive IP portfolio.
He joined CST in 2013 to sustain and develop its foundry customer base, working with a number of worldwide commercial partners in the supply of leading-edge optoelectronic devices for a wide range of applications. He has also been actively involved in the development of the company’s MOVPE epitaxial growth development and has worked on a number of R&D programmes with various academic and industrial partners.
