Neil Martin, CEO of CST Global, joined an illustrious list of keynote speakers at the European Photonics Industry Consortium (EPIC) AGM and conference, held in Glasgow last month. EPIC is an industry association comprising the largest network of photonics companies in Europe, with almost 450 members.
Neil explained, “I was delighted to be asked to give a keynote address to senior EPIC members on the final day of the AGM and conference. EPIC is an active, industry body we enjoy supporting. The recent AGM and conference in Glasgow, was jointly organized by EPIC and Technology Scotland; an organization we also support and endorse.”
Neil’s keynote address covered the photonics foundry market. He provided an overview of technologies, discussed the foundry model and CST Global’s business model. His keynote counterparts included Andrew Rickman, CEO of Rockley Photonics; Sir Colin Humphreys, Founder of Paragraf; Harald Haas, CSO and Founder of PureLiFi; Graeme Malcolm OBE, CEO of M Squared Lasers; Sir David Payne, Director of the University of Southampton Optoelectronics Research Centre; and Mark Greenwood, CEO of SPI Lasers.
Neil added, “During the EPIC AGM and conference we were pleased to welcome twenty three EPIC members to our manufacturing facility in Blantyre, Glasgow, for a factory tour. We ran one of the six technology workshop sessions entitled ‘InP-based Laser Sources for High Speed Optical Communications’ aimed at PON, 4G and 5G wireless infrastructures and data-centre inter-connections. Additionally, we attended the SOA Civic Reception and EPIC Gala dinner.”
