CST Global, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sivers IMA Holdings AB and the UK’s leading, independent, III-V opto-electronic, semiconductor foundry has confirmed receipt of a single order for Silicon Integrated Photonics (SIP) devices worth $490k. The order was placed by a North American photonics company who will use the SIP devices within an opto-electronic platform, which is used to increase the data line rates of existing, fibre optic networks around the world.
Euan Livingston, VP Sales and Marketing at CST Global explained, “We recently confirmed that our year on year sales of SIP devices and lasers had exceeded 500%. This new, $490k order increases that impressive growth percentage yet again.
Silicon Integrated Photonic (SIP) devices are used within existing, fibre-optic networks to increase the data line rate by up to ten times. The solution is available now and represents a cost-effective, easily deployed, upgrade path for network providers around the world. This order, as well as the massive increase in demand for SIP devices we have seen year on year, clearly demonstrates network providers are investing in this interim upgrade path, well before a complete, 5G solution is available.
CST Global’s SIP products operate in the infra-red, 1.3 and 1.55µm wavelength used by most, current, fibre optic systems.
