CST Global was pleased to welcome Gerard “Ged” Killen, Member of Parliament for the Scottish Labour Party, to its site in Blantyre, Glasgow. Ged, who was elected following the snap general election on 8 June, is MP for Rutherglen and Hamilton West, which encompasses Blantyre.
Ged was impressed by the technical capability of CST Global and the scale of the UK Photonics market – now larger than the Scottish Whisky industry! CST Global’s 88% growth within this market makes it “one to watch”. Ged was keen to lobby parliament with CST Global’s concerns regarding continued, government-funded, research projects; recruitment of international staff through its university connections; and a retention of the UK’s influence in the Photonics industry in Europe, post-Brexit.
Ged, 31, joined the Labour Party in 2007 and was elected as a Councillor for the Rutherglen South ward of South Lanarkshire Council, aged 26. He retained his council seat at the 2017 UK local elections, this time in the Rutherglen Central and North ward.
CST Global is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sivers IMA Holdings AB.
