CST Global has celebrated its exceptional performance during the first half of 2017 with a staff pizza party at its Blantyre site, Glasgow.
“So far in 2017 we have experienced outstanding growth,” explains Neil Martin, CEO of CST Global. “We have seen a rapid increase in demand for our core photonics products and custom foundry services. Many of our lasers are used in massively developing markets such as next-generation, cloud, data-centre and Hyperscale data centres. This growth has been underpinned by the signing of a master purchase agreement with a large, North American supplier of network systems.
“Silicon photonic laser production has increased by a staggering 500%. These products are used within opto-electronic platforms to increase the data line rates of existing fibre optic networks. It’s a developing market for us and shows the need for increased data transmission ahead of the widescale introduction of 5G, which we anticipate being another large market for us in future.
“Finally, our collaborative research projects with UK universities are increasing. This year alone we have begun the Super8, 25G VCSEL, MacV, DiLaN, QR SPLED and CoolBlue projects, which receive significant Government funding. These projects are at the forefront of technology and will define the products we make in years to come, as well as keeping the technology within the UK.
“Investment in ISO 9001:2015 processes, machinery and staff has helped achieve and support this growth. We have a lot to celebrate and it was great to say a big thank you to our staff.”
